Salt Kiss - Sea Thrift

The magnificent Kilkee Cliffs in County Clare receive the first wild winds that pick up salt and speed as they cross the Atlantic and finally  reach Ireland and then the rest of Europe.

This rugged coastline is battered all winter and then, in the month of May, new life springs in an explosion of pink and magenta along the ocean’s edge.

Feel the mist on your cheek and it’s magical salt kiss and let the Sea Thrift— also known as Pink Thrift—remind you that, no matter how dull a winter gets, spring is just around the corner.

When I came upon this view, I thought of my mother and painted this piece to give to her on a landmark birthday. Mom has always loved the colour pink, and now I know that it reminds her of home, and looks fab with her brilliant blue eyes.
