And the Light Came Shining Through
This painting captures a beautiful evening at Spanish Point Strand as the last rays of light peeked through the clouds like fingers of God. The saying ‘face the sun so the shadows fall behind you,’ urged me on to complete painting the Ragwort flowers in the foreground.
Ironically, this yellow-flowered plant from the daisy family, that is a common weed of grazing land, is toxic to livestock. It sits in juxtaposition to the building that is on the horizon. In the background, on the right, is the place where the lighthouse once stood. That building, ironically, later became the residence and business of “The Veterinarian,” and the building is a notable local landmark.
